A Move Happened — and It Was Beautiful
From May 4th through May 22nd, our Amaris girls slowly moved into the Alpas house, and we became one family under one roof. Boxes, beds, laughter, probably a few tears — that was May in our world.
The Alpas home has more than enough room for everyone, the homeschool classrooms are back together, making it a full K-10 school again, and having the pool helps. In the Philippine heat, it is the most popular spot in the house.
If you can picture it for a moment — more girls means more sharing your things, but it also means more laughter down the hall at night. Honestly? Doesn’t sounds just about perfect?
Meet Alora
Once everyone was together, the girls sat down and voted on a name for their new, merged family. They could have chosen anything.
They chose Alora meaning “God is my Light.”
We could not have said it better ourselves. These girls — the ones who grew up here, the ones who stepped into leadership, the ones who voted together as one family — they named themselves after the light that has guided this whole journey.
Look How Far Our Girls Have Come
You all know Josie. When she transitioned to the United States, something really special happened here — three of our own girls stepped up to carry the heart of this home forward. These are young women who grew up within our walls, who know the Consider the Lily culture better than anyone, and who have been quietly growing into leaders right before our eyes.
Watching them step into that role has been one of the greatest joys of this ministry. They are not filling a role — they are living it, and they are doing it beautifully.
Over the past couple of years, we made the intentional choice to focus all of our energy on the girls already with us. We wanted to give our new leaders room to grow and every girl in the home to feel deeply known and loved. Several have since graduated from college and moved, some have been reunited with family, or others decided to live on their own. Every move brings tears, sometimes tears of joy or sometimes sadness, but that is the life of a safe house. With so many open beds we decided to combine the homes to save money and to look ahead.
This Is Just the Beginning
Bringing our family together into one home has not just been about simplifying — it has been about preparing. This season has given us the focus and the foundation to start dreaming bigger, and that dreaming has a very specific place on the map.
We are looking toward Leyte, Tacloban.
Leyte is an island here in the Philippines where Consider the Lily has felt a growing pull to go next. Establishing Alora as a strong, unified home is a key part of making that vision a reality. One door did not close here — a runway was built. And we are so excited for you to watch what takes off from it.
We have talked about Leyte a lot in our conversations with you, and we want you to know that everything happening right now — the move, the merge, the name — it is all pointing in that direction. God is moving, and we are moving with Him.
If you could keep us in your prayers as Alora settles into her new rhythm and as we continue to seek God’s direction for Leyte, we would be so grateful. We will be sharing photos and updates along the way — you are going to want to see this home full of life.
We love you all so much. Our door and our inbox are always open. You are family, and we mean that with everything we have.
Hope Without Worry,
The Consider the Lily Family
& the Alora Girls
